Students will celebrate the winter holiday with parties on Friday, December 20 at 2:15 p.m. Teachers may request donations and volunteers to help celebrate the season. Contact your child's teacher if you would like more information. Thank you! 

The weather has definitely turned colder and it is important for students to be prepared to be outside. The KSD guidance states that students can participate in outdoor activities as long as the temperature (with wind chill) is 20 degrees or above. This is still pretty chilly so help students come prepared to be outside during colder days by ensuring they have warm jackets, hats, gloves, and appropriate footwear. We will have indoor recess if the temperatures dip below 20 degrees or there is heavy precipitation. The same guidance applies to lining up outside before school. Thank you!

Our lost and found is overflowing and we need to clean things up a bit! All lost and found items will be donated after the winter holiday. Parents and family members are always welcome to stop by the school and look through the lost and found for missing items. We will also have items displayed during Cookies and Cocoa and the Winter Concert. 

Winter Break will begin on Monday, December 23 and end on January 3. Students will return to school on Monday, January 6, 2025. 

January is a big month for updating assessments. We will be testing all students in both reading and math. The big test days will be Wednesday, January 8 and Thursday, January 9 with STAR Math and STAR Reading. The rest of the month teachers and staff will be administering assessments for phonemic awareness, math number sense, dyslexia, Highly Capable, and our new social-emotional screener, SAEBERS. There are lots of things happening in the month of January so please reach out if you have questions and expect information about your child's most recent progress by the end of the month. 

Every Friday is Spirit Wear Friday! Students are encouraged to wear their Cascade spirit wear and show their school spirit and pride. The class with the most students wearing a Cascade shirt will receive the Spirit Trophy for the week! 

Kids Heart Challenge starts after winter break, and we are proud to support the American Heart Association through this service-learning program. Students will learn how to have happy and healthy hearts and brains, while raising lifesaving donations to help others with special hearts. We will host our December Student of the Month luncheon on Friday, January 10 during student's regular lunchtimes.

Bingo Night is Friday, January 31! Doors open at 4:30 and the games will begin at 5:00.
